Clearing a loft is one of the most awkward jobs in any house move or clearance. Narrow hatches, steep ladders, poor light and heavy boxes make it hard work, and it is easy to get hurt. Our team does it safely, and we take care with whatever we find.
When people clear a loft
- Before selling a house, so buyers and surveyors can see the space
- As part of a full house clearance or a bereavement clearance
- Before a loft conversion or insulation work
- When downsizing, to decide what really needs to come along
Sorting what we find
Lofts often hold family photographs, letters, children's drawings and heirlooms. We bring everything down carefully and can lay it out for you to look through before deciding what goes. Old insulation, building materials and anything hazardous are dealt with separately.

Questions people ask
Is there a hatch that is too small?
Rarely. Most items came in through the hatch, so they can go out the same way. Large items may need to be dismantled.
Will you sort through the boxes?
We can bring everything down for you to look through, or sort it ourselves and set aside anything personal.
Do you take old insulation or building materials?
Tell us about these when you ask for a quote. Some materials need special handling, and anything that may contain asbestos must be checked by a specialist first.
